Current Project

End Table/Nightstand.  Woods: Cherry, Curly Cherry, Spalted Maple, Maple Burl.
The Top  is Cherry , with 2" Walnut edging.
Drawer Bottom is Mahog. Plywood. Drawer sides are Alder.
The Legs were cut from a 14" wide, 12/4 cherry board, utilizing as much of the straight grained edges along the
board as possible.
Birch Ply used for cabinet bottom and eventually the back.
Poplar and Alder are used for the secondary carcase construction, drawer runners, etc.
Am laminating curly, semi-crotch looking Cherry to Alder Glue ups to make the doors.
Initial finish will be Platinum Blonde Shellac. The Top was made over a year ago!

The figured Woods came from "Curly Woods" in McKinney, Texas.

Here the Maple Burl is dyed a fuky pink. but after the Orange shellac (after the picture) it looks quite nice. Then the whole drawer had Platinum Blonde shellac applied, though not shown here.

Laminating the cherry "veneer" to the Alder Door. to the left is one that came out of the "press".
