• Copyright Infringement is a Big Deal

We are in jeapordy of losing our broadband connection for ALL of our users if copyright infringement on our system continues.

We can locate which of our users are the offenders, but would much rather that we do not have to put in the time to do so.

Here is some more information –

We recently got the following communication from AT&T

    Aug 25, 2021
    TEXOMA BROADBAND SERVICES LLC
    5249 W FM 120, GRAYSON COUNTY, Texas, 75020 USA
We are contacting you because we received additional notice from a movie studio, record company, television studio or other party that owns copyrighted material that someone using this Internet Protocol (IP) address, that belongs to you, appears to have shared copyrighted content without the copyright owners’ permission. Information about the notice we received is located at the end of this letter.
It is our policy to terminate internet service in appropriate circumstances for customers who continue to copy and/or share copyrighted work without permission.

    What should you do next?
    1. Review alleged infringements.
    2. Take steps to protect your internet and avoid future infringements.
      • Inform everyone who uses your internet services that copying or sharing copyrighted work without the owner’s permission can be against the law and the AT&T Acceptable Use Policy.
      • Check authorized devices for file sharing programs so they don’t accidentally make copyrighted work available to others.
      • Your IT department or provider can determine the best steps for your organization to protect against potential copyright infringement.
If you believe that the copyright notice was sent to us in error – because you believe you are making legally permissible use of the copyrighted content – it’s your responsibility to reach out to the copyright owner and resolve the issue. You can do this by using the contact information provided in the copyright notice summary at the end of this email.
